Correction and Retraction

IJES : Indonesian Journal of Environmental Sustainability keeps the scholarly record accurate. When a published article contains errors or is found to be unreliable, the journal publishes a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, following the retraction guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Types of notice

NoticeWhen it is used
CorrectionAn error that affects part of the article (for example, a value, a figure, an affiliation, or an author name) but not its main conclusions.
Expression of concernSerious doubts about the reliability of an article while an investigation is still in progress.
RetractionClear evidence that the findings are unreliable (because of misconduct or honest error), plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical research, or serious undeclared conflict of interest.

Authority and procedure

  1. A request may come from the authors, readers, reviewers, or editors. Authors who find an error in their own article should contact ijes.uin@ar-raniry.ac.id as soon as possible.
  2. The Editor in Chief decides after discussing the case with the editors involved. If the Editor in Chief has a conflict of interest, the Managing Editor decides.
  3. The authors are consulted before a notice is published, but their agreement is not required for a retraction.

How notices are published

  • Each notice is published in the current issue with its own DOI and is linked to the original article.
  • A corrected article is updated and keeps its original DOI; the correction notice explains what was changed.
  • A retracted article remains available, but its PDF is marked "RETRACTED" and is linked to the retraction notice, which states the reason. Articles are removed only in exceptional legal cases, and their metadata and the notice remain.
  • Changes are also reported to Crossref so that indexing services are updated.
