Allegations of Research Misconduct

Lingkar: Journal of Environmental Engineering follows the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). Any allegation of research misconduct, in a submitted or a published article, is investigated confidentially.

What is covered

This page applies to data fabrication or falsification, plagiarism, duplicate or salami publication, authorship that omits a contributor or lists a non-contributor, and AI-generated data, references, citations, or images presented as genuine. Fabricated or unverifiable references are treated as misconduct. The rules themselves are stated in Publication Ethics, the plagiarism policy, the Authorship Policy, and the Generative AI Policy.

How to raise an allegation

Write to the Editorial Office at lingkar@ar-raniry.ac.id. Give the title or DOI of the article, describe the concern, and attach the evidence available. For a published article, a concern may also be raised under Post-publication Discussion.

How an allegation is handled

The editors keep the allegation and the identity of those concerned confidential, review the evidence, and ask the authors to respond before a decision is made. They may consult the reviewers or, where needed, the authors' institution.

Outcomes and sanctions

If evidence of a violation of the journal's policies is found, whether in a Lingkar manuscript or in a journal published elsewhere, the journal may apply the following sanctions:

  1. Immediate rejection of the infringing manuscript.
  2. Rejection of every other manuscript submitted to Lingkar by the same authors for two subsequent issues (12 months).
  3. Blacklisting as an author, or demotion of the account from author to reader.
  4. A ban on serving on the editorial board of Lingkar.

In serious cases, the journal may also inform the authors' institution. For a published article, the outcome may be a correction or a retraction, as described in the Correction and Retraction Policy.
