Updated Submission Requirements: AI Writing Statement Now Mandatory

A Note to Prospective Authors — June 2026 Issue

Welcome to Lingkar: Journal of Environmental Engineering. Before preparing your manuscript for the June 2026 issue, please take note of the following updates to our submission requirements.

What has changed?

We have updated two key documents:

1. Article Template (REVISED 2026)
The new template now includes a mandatory AI Writing Statement section — a dedicated declaration that all authors must complete regardless of whether AI tools were used during manuscript preparation. This section appears after the Acknowledgements and must not be deleted.

2. Author Guidelines
Our Author Guidelines have been revised to include a comprehensive Generative AI Policy, which explains:

  • what AI-assisted activities are permitted and not permitted
  • how to declare AI use correctly for seven different use cases (language editing, translation, code generation, literature search, figure generation, combined use, or no use at all)
  • the consequences of undisclosed AI use

What do I need to do?

If you are preparing a manuscript for the June 2026 issue, please:

  1. Download the latest Article Template (REVISED 2026)
  2. Read the updated Author Guidelines, particularly Section 6 on the Generative AI Policy
  3. Complete the AI Writing Statement in your manuscript — select the appropriate statement, fill in the bracketed fields, and delete the option that does not apply

Why is this required?

Transparency in the use of AI tools is increasingly recognised as a core principle of research integrity. Lingkar is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publication, and this policy ensures that readers, reviewers, and editors can trust the provenance of all submitted work.

Manuscripts submitted without a completed AI Writing Statement will be returned to authors prior to peer review.
