MANUSCRIPT TYPE

KENANGA: Journal of Biological Sciences and Applied Biology accepts scientific manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of biology and applied biology. The journal publishes two types of manuscripts: Original Research Articles and Systematic Literature Reviews.

1.   Original Reseacrh Article

Original Research Articles present original scientific research findings in the fields of biology and applied biology. Manuscripts must contain new findings, scientific evidence, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of science and its applications. Research may cover various fields of biology, including biodiversity, ecology, conservation biology, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and other relevant fields.

Writing Structure

Section

Description

Introduction

Explain the background, research gap, novelty, and research objectives.

Materials and Methods

Describe the materials, equipment, research location (if relevant), research design, experimental procedures or sampling methods, and data analysis methods.

Results and Discussion

Presenting research findings in the form of text, tables, figures, or graphs, accompanied by interpretations, comparisons with previous research, and a discussion of the implications of the findings.

Conclusion

Summarize the main findings that address the research objectives and highlight the scientific contributions based on the research results.

2.   Systematic Literature Review

A systematic literature review provides a comprehensive and structured synthesis of published scientific literature on a specific topic in the fields of biology and applied biology. This article aims to answer research questions through a systematic, transparent, and reproducible process of literature search, selection, evaluation, and synthesis.

Authors must describe their literature search strategy, article selection criteria, and methods for synthesizing the findings. The systematic review process follows the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines to ensure transparency in reporting.

Writing Structure

Section

Description

Introduction

Explains the background of the topic, the knowledge gap, the research questions, and the objectives of the systematic review.

Materials and Methods

Describes the literature search strategy, databases, keywords, inclusion and exclusion criteria, article selection process, and data synthesis methods in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines.

Results and Discussion

Presents the characteristics of the reviewed studies, the results of the literature synthesis, a comparison of findings across studies, an interpretation of the results, and an identification of research gaps.

Conclusion

Summarize the results of the synthesis of scientific evidence, the main implications, the limitations of the available evidence, and recommendations for future research.
