AUTHOR GUIDELINES

FOCUS AND SCOPE

This journal covers all fields of biological science and applied biology research, such as: Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Genetics, Ecology, Physiology, Biochemistry, and the Integration of Islam and Biological Science.

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS

This journal is published twice a year, in April and October, with each issue containing up to seven selected articles. The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Article
  • Review Article

FORMATTING GUIDELINES

  • Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx).
  • The manuscript must be formatted on A4 paper (21 × 29.7 cm).
  • Margins: 3 cm at the top and bottom, and 3.5 cm on the left and right sides.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt for the main text; 11 pt for table titles; and 10–11 pt for table contents.
  • The article title must be written in bold, 14–16 pt, centered, and should not exceed approximately 15 words.
  • Author names must be written without academic titles and include complete affiliations (institution, city, country), along with the corresponding author’s email address.
  • Line spacing: 1.15 for the main text and 1.0 for the abstract.
  • Manuscript length: approximately 5,000–8,000 words, with a maximum of 15–20 pages.
  • The abstract must be written in a single paragraph, not exceeding 250 words, followed by 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).
  • Subheadings should follow a consistent format, either using a numbered system (e.g., 1., 1.1, etc.) or unnumbered headings in bold.
  • Scientific names (binomial nomenclature) must be written in italics, with the genus capitalized and the species in lowercase (e.g., Escherichia coli). Foreign terms not yet adopted into Indonesian should also be written in italics.
  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and provided with clear titles. Table titles are placed above the table, while figure titles are placed below the figure. Sources (if any) must be properly cited.
  • Citation and reference formatting must follow the APA style (latest edition). Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or similar tools to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • References: At least 80% of the cited sources must be from publications within the last 10 years.
  • Authors must use the journal template (Download the Kenanga Journal Template) when preparing their manuscripts.

MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE

The manuscript must be organized according to the following structure:

  1. Title

The title should be concise, clear, and reflect the content of the research.

  1. Authors and Affiliations

Authors’ full names must be written without academic titles, accompanied by complete institutional affiliations (institution, city, country) and the corresponding author’s email address.

  1. Abstract

The abstract must be written in English (and/or Indonesian) in a single paragraph, with a maximum of 250 words. It should include a brief background, objectives, methods, main results, and conclusions.

Keywords: 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).

  1. Introduction

This section should present the background, research significance, and research objectives.

  1. Materials and Methods

This section should describe the research methods in a detailed, clear, and systematic manner so that the procedures can be well understood.

  1. Results and Discussion

This section should include:

  • Presentation of research results
  • Analysis and interpretation of the findings
  • Comparison with relevant previous studies
  1. Conclusion

This section should summarize the main findings and highlight the implications of the research.

  1. Acknowledgments (optional)

This section may include acknowledgments of funding sources or contributions from individuals or institutions.

  1. References
  • References must follow the APA Style (latest edition).
  • All cited works must be listed in the References section.
  • At least 80% of the references must be from publications within the last 10 years.
  • It is recommended that at least 70% of the references be derived from scientific journal articles published within the last 5–10 years.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
  • Authors are required to upload the manuscript file in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
  • Authors must complete all required metadata, including the title, abstract, and author information.

REVISION POLICY

  • Authors are required to revise the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ comments.
  • The revision deadline will be determined by the editor.
  • The manuscript may undergo several rounds of revision before a final decision is made.
