AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA
KENANGA: Journal of Biological Sciences and Applied Biology requires that all authors listed in a manuscript make a substantial scientific contribution to the research and be responsible for the content of the manuscript. Authorship must be determined based on the following four criteria:
1. Substantial Contribution : Authors must make a significant contribution to the conception or design of the research, data collection, data analysis, or interpretation of the research results.
2. Drafting and Critical Review : Authors must participate in the drafting of the manuscript or conduct a critical review of the manuscript’s content regarding scientific substance.
3. Final Approval : Authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before it is submitted and published.
4. Responsibility : Authors must be willing to take responsibility for all aspects of the research and ensure that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of the research are properly investigated and resolved.
Every individual listed as an author must meet all four of these criteria. All authors must agree on the list of authors and the order of authorship before the manuscript is submitted to the journal.
Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript, the list of authors and their order, and have disclosed any conflicts of interest and relevant funding information.
Contributors and Acknowledgments
Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet all the criteria for authorship are not listed as authors. Their contributions may be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section with their consent.
Contributions such as funding, general supervision, administrative support, technical assistance, proofreading, or language editing alone are not sufficient to meet the criteria for authorship.
Changes in Authorship
Any addition, removal, or change in the order of authors after the manuscript has been submitted must be accompanied by a clear justification and written consent from all listed authors, including those added or removed. The journal reserves the right to suspend the editorial process until the matter is resolved.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scientific works. Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s AI policy and remain fully responsible for the entire content of the submitted manuscript.
