Jurnal Sosiologi Agama Indonesia (JSAI) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the scholarly record. When a material error, ethical concern, or publication-integrity problem is identified, the journal will take proportionate and transparent action.
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, JSAI may publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction. A manuscript that has not yet been published may be withdrawn in accordance with the provisions below.
A correction may be issued when an error affects the accuracy, interpretation, attribution, or completeness of a published article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
Corrections may address:
A correction notice will identify the affected article, explain the correction, and remain permanently linked to the article. The original article may be updated when necessary, but the date and nature of the change will be recorded transparently.
Minor formatting or typographical errors that do not affect meaning, interpretation, citation, attribution, or the scholarly record may be corrected without a separate formal notice. Substantive changes to data, results, analysis, conclusions, authorship, or ethical declarations require a documented correction or other appropriate action.
Retraction is used when the findings, conclusions, integrity, or legitimacy of a published article are seriously compromised and cannot be adequately addressed through a correction.
An article may be retracted when there is credible evidence of:
A retraction notice will:
The retracted article will normally remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as retracted on the article page and PDF. Its DOI and bibliographic metadata will be retained and updated to reflect the retraction.
An expression of concern may be published when serious questions have been raised about an article, but the available evidence is inconclusive or a fair investigation has not yet been completed.
An expression of concern may be appropriate when:
The expression of concern will be linked to the article and may later be replaced or supplemented by a correction, retraction, or notice that the concern has been resolved.
Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before publication by submitting a written explanation through the OJS system or official journal email. The request must be approved by all authors.
A withdrawal request made during editorial screening or peer review will normally be accepted after the journal confirms the request and closes the submission record.
When withdrawal is requested after formal acceptance or during production, the authors must provide a clear reason. The journal may first verify whether the request involves an authorship dispute, duplicate submission, ethical concern, legal issue, or other matter requiring further investigation.
Withdrawal does not erase the journal’s internal editorial record. Any applicable financial matter will be handled separately under the Article Processing Charges Policy.
An article that has been formally published online as the Version of Record, including an Article in Press with an assigned DOI and final publication metadata, cannot be withdrawn as an unpublished manuscript. Concerns involving such an article will be addressed through correction, expression of concern, retraction, or removal where exceptionally justified.
Complete removal of a published article is reserved for exceptional circumstances in which continued public access would create a serious legal, privacy, security, or safety risk that cannot be managed through correction, anonymization, or retraction.
Removal may be considered when required by a final legal order, when the article contains unlawful material, or when publication exposes confidential or personally identifying information that creates a substantial risk of harm.
Where removal is necessary, the article content may be replaced by a notice explaining the reason to the extent legally and ethically possible. The DOI and basic bibliographic record will normally be preserved.
A correction, expression of concern, or retraction may proceed without the agreement of every author when the available evidence and protection of the scholarly record require action. Any material disagreement among authors may be acknowledged in the relevant notice where appropriate.
JSAI will update the article landing page, PDF, DOI metadata, and relevant indexing or preservation records to reflect a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or removal. The journal cannot guarantee the immediate updating of independently managed external databases but will provide accurate and accessible notices through its official publication record.
Authors, readers, reviewers, institutions, and other parties may report a material error or publication-integrity concern to the editorial office. Reports should identify the relevant article and provide sufficient explanation and supporting evidence for an initial assessment.
