Publication Ethics
Fitrah: International Islamic Education Journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the principles set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including the publisher, editors, authors, and reviewers.
Publisher Responsibilities
- Fitrah is responsible for ensuring that all articles undergo a rigorous peer-review process involving editing, review, and layout in accordance with the ethical standards of scientific publishing.
- The publisher guarantees the academic freedom of editors and reviewers in performing their duties.
- The publisher ensures the confidentiality of submissions, safeguards intellectual property rights, and upholds editorial independence.
Editor Responsibilities
- The editors of Fitrah are responsible for deciding which articles to publish based on the recommendations from peer reviewers and editorial policies, while adhering to applicable laws regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
- Editors treat all submissions fairly and impartially, ensuring that all authors receive equal consideration without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.
- The editorial team ensures the confidentiality of manuscripts during the review process and does not disclose any information about submissions to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, and publisher.
- Editors must ensure that unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript are not used for personal research without the explicit written consent of the author.
- Editors are responsible for addressing ethical concerns and complaints regarding submitted or published articles, and they will take appropriate actions in cases of misconduct.
Author Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure that their submissions are original, free from plagiarism, and present accurate, honest, and transparent research findings without data manipulation.
- Authors are responsible for confirming the originality of their work and ensuring that it has not been previously published or submitted to another journal.
- Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all references and sources used in their research.
- Authors must adhere to ethical research and writing practices and must comply with the journal's guidelines.
- Authors are prohibited from submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- Authors are required to cooperate fully during the peer-review process and must address reviewers' comments and make necessary revisions as requested.
- Authors must accept minor corrections made during the editing process without altering the core content or main ideas of the manuscript.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Reviewers assist the editor in making publication decisions by providing timely, thorough, and constructive feedback on submitted manuscripts.
- Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, with clear and well-supported arguments, while avoiding personal bias or conflicts of interest.
- Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not use any information obtained during the review process for personal benefit.
- Reviewers are expected to alert the editor to any ethical concerns, such as potential plagiarism, fabrication, or other forms of misconduct.
- Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts if they feel unqualified or if a conflict of interest exists.
