An-Nahdah Al-'Arabiyah permits responsible use of AI-assisted technologies while requiring human accountability for all scholarship that it publishes. This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and production personnel.
Authors may use AI tools for language editing, technical assistance, or other disclosed purposes where such use complies with research integrity, confidentiality, copyright, and data-protection requirements. Material use of generative AI in drafting, translating, coding, analysis, or image preparation must be described in a suitable declaration that identifies the tool, purpose, and extent of use. Routine spelling checks may not require a separate declaration unless the journal asks for one. Authors must independently verify facts, quotations, Arabic texts, references, and analyses.
AI tools cannot be named as authors. Authors remain responsible for originality, source accuracy, permissions, scholarly judgment, and any errors introduced by AI. Invented references, fabricated evidence, synthetic quotations represented as authentic, and undisclosed manipulation of research data are unacceptable.
Confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, and personal data must not be uploaded to public or external AI systems without explicit permission and adequate safeguards. AI output cannot replace an independent scholarly assessment or final human editorial decision. Any authorized AI support must be reviewed by the responsible person.
The journal assesses concerns about AI use based on verifiable evidence and the published policy. Automated AI-detection scores alone are not conclusive proof of misconduct.
