Use of Generative AI in Manuscript Preparation

IJHMT recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies may assist authors in improving language, readability, organization, and efficiency during manuscript preparation.

However:

• AI tools must not replace human intellectual contributions, critical thinking, interpretation, or scholarly judgment.
• Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for all manuscript content.
• Authors must verify the accuracy of AI-generated content and references.
• Authors must ensure that AI-generated material does not contain fabricated information, inaccurate citations, or biased conclusions.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose any use of AI tools in manuscript preparation by including an AI Declaration Statement during submission.

The declaration should specify:

• The name of the AI tool used.
• The purpose of its use.
• The extent of human oversight and editing.

Routine grammar and spelling corrections do not require disclosure.

Authorship

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authorship is limited to individuals who:

• Made substantial intellectual contributions.
• Approved the final manuscript.
• Accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work.

AI-Generated Images and Figures

IJHMT does not permit the use of generative AI tools to create, modify, manipulate, or fabricate research images, figures, graphs, or visual data.

Acceptable image adjustments are limited to standard modifications such as brightness, contrast, and color balance, provided that no information is altered or obscured.

If AI-based imaging tools are part of the research methodology, authors must fully describe:

• The software or model used.
• Version information.
• Parameters and procedures.
• Reproducibility details.
