Abstract

This study aims to bridge the theoretical gap in Islamic social finance by reconstructing the paradigm of productive zakat evaluation through the lens of contemporary Maqasid Shariah to effectively address multidimensional poverty. The methodology uses the Integrative Qualitative Literature Review method, this research extracts and synthesises qualitative data from 28 core journal articles that have undergone the peer review process published between 2016 and 2026. The data reduction process was carried out systematically through three structural phases: coding, categorisation, and theoretical synthesis. The findings of this study reveal that the existing evaluation of productive zakat is biased towards a linear monetary approach, which strictly reduces poverty alleviation metrics to the achievement of nominal income. This reductionist approach leads to structural vulnerabilities and an artificial level of success, as it overlooks overlapping non monetary deficiencies. To address this, the study deconstructs al-daruriyyat al-khams into an operational matrix of micro-indicators: Hifzh al-Din (business integrity), Hifzh al-Nafs (access to health and nutrition), Hifzh al-'Aql (financial literacy and psychological resilience), Hifzh al-Nasl (intergenerational education), and Hifzh al-Mal (income diversification and emergency savings). These indicators are consolidated into the Maqasid Based Productive Zakat Impact Framework. Theoretically, this model enriches Islamic economics by combining Amartya Sen's capability approach with Jasser Auda's dynamic systems thinking. Practically, this functions as a sharia compliant and actionable social impact audit tool for amil institutions (BAZNAS/LAZ) to transition from simple fund distribution entities to architects of sustainable human development.
