Abstract

The refugee crisis is a complex issue currently facing the global community. Generally, displacement occurs as a result of oppression and human rights violations experienced by refugees in their countries of origin. One of the most prominent cases is the human rights violations against the Rohingya ethnic group in Myanmar, which has attracted serious attention from the international community. The Myanmar government is deemed to have failed to provide justice for the Rohingya people living in the Rakhine region, thereby causing a protracted humanitarian crisis. The discriminatory actions and violence perpetrated against this ethnic group clearly contravene the fundamental principles of international law. The Rohingya refugee crisis has become one of the greatest humanitarian challenges in the South-east Asian region, including in Indonesia.
