KOMPARASI FATWA BITCOIN DI INDONESIA DAN INTERNASIONAL
Studi Komparatif
Keywords:
fatwa, bitcoin, Digital Investments, Sharia LawAbstract
Society has changed the way they invest and trade due to advancements in financial technology, especially cryptocurrency. The most famous digital currency is Bitcoin. The purpose of this research is to study the fatwas regarding the legality of Bitcoin in Indonesia and around the world, as well as the Sharia perspective on the use of Bitcoin. An important finding shows that the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) considers Bitcoin an illegal currency due to its uncertainty and risk. In addition, the fatwas of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) oppose the use of Bitcoin as an investment and exchange tool for the same reasons. International organizations, such as the Dar al-Ifta of Egypt, have prohibited the use of cryptocurrencies because they can disrupt economic stability. This study shows that although there are arguments supporting the use of Bitcoin, the rejection remains strong due to risks and uncertainties. This study enhances the understanding of the Muslim community regarding Sharia law on cryptocurrencies and helps them make better investment and digital currency usage decisions. Therefore, this research is useful for discussing the regulations and ethics of cryptocurrency use by Muslims. In addition, it encourages the need for a clear legal framework to regulate digital transactions in the future.
