Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
El-Hadhanah : Indonesian Journal Of Family Law And Islamic Law is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of integrity in its published content. Our ethical code is modeled on the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). It is mandatory for all parties involved in the publication process editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher to understand and adhere to these standards.
For full details on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, please visit the COPE website: https://publicationethics.org/core-practices
- Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
Publication Decisions and Accountability The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board are responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. These decisions are based on the paper’s validation, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope (Family Law and Islamic Law). The editors are guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
Impartiality and Fair Play Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. The decision to accept or reject a paper is based strictly on the paper’s scientific merit and its importance to researchers and readers.
Confidentiality The Editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest (For Editors)
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.
Recusal: Editors will recuse themselves (i.e., ask a co-editor or other member of the editorial board to handle the manuscript) from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or (possibly) institutions connected to the papers.
Editors as Authors: If an editor submits a paper to El-Hadhanah, the review process will be managed independently by other members of the editorial board to ensure a blind review process. The submitting editor will have no access to the review records or decision-making process for their own submission.
- Responsibilities of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
Timeliness Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself/herself from the review process.
Confidentiality Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Objectivity and Acknowledgment of Sources Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
- Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards and Originality Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Authorship of the Paper Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
- Responsibilities of the Publisher
Guardianship of the Scholarly Record The publisher (Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry) is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. The publisher will assist the editors in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful to the editors. - Management of Unethical Behavior (Retraction & Correction Policy)
El-Hadhanah takes its responsibility to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record seriously.
Corrections (Errata/Corrigenda): If a significant error is discovered in a published article that does not affect the validity of the results (e.g., an error in a figure, an omitted author), the journal will publish a Correction notice. This notice will be linked to the original article.
Retractions: A retraction will be considered if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error). Retractions are also issued in cases of redundant publication, plagiarism, or unethical research.
The retracted article will not be removed from the online journal. However, a "RETRACTED" watermark will be applied to the PDF, and a retraction notice will be published and linked to the article, explaining the reason for the retraction (following COPE Retraction Guidelines).
