Abstract

This article explores the concept of an Islamic state in Aceh within a historical and political context. Utilizing qualitative methods that combine biographical studies and documentary analysis, the research focuses on the role of Husaini M. Hasan in the Aceh Merdeka Movement and his efforts to implement Islamic Sharia in Aceh. Tracing Aceh's history from the colonial era to the modern day, the article depicts how Aceh has strived to maintain its Islamic identity within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia. The study elucidates the relationship between Aceh's desire to implement Islamic Sharia and its aspirations for unique regional autonomy and national identity. This analysis reveals how political thought and Islamic ideology shape the social and political identity of Aceh and its interaction with Indonesia's national politics. The study concludes that the Islamic State in Aceh is not a concept of an independent nation but a form of special autonomy within the Republic of Indonesia, emphasizing the need for a holistic and contextual approach to understanding and addressing issues related to Islamic Sharia, politics, and social identity in Aceh.

Abstrak

Artikel ini mengeksplorasi konsep Islamic State di Aceh dalam konteks historis dan politik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi biografis dan analisis dokumenter, berfokus pada peran Husaini M. Hasan dalam Gerakan Aceh Merdeka dan perjuangannya untuk penerapan syariat Islam di Aceh. Artikel ini memaparkan bagaimana Aceh, sejak masa kolonial hingga era modern, telah berjuang mempertahankan identitas Islamnya dalam kerangka Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia. Dengan menganalisis berbagai wawancara dan dokumen, penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana keinginan Aceh untuk menerapkan syariat Islam berkaitan dengan aspirasinya untuk otonomi regional dan identitas nasional yang unik. Pemikiran politik dan ideologi Islam berperan dalam pembentukan identitas sosial dan politik Aceh, serta berinteraksi dengan politik nasional Indonesia. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Islamic State di Aceh bukanlah konsep negara merdeka, melainkan bentuk khusus otonomi dalam NKRI. Hal ini menunjukkan perlunya pendekatan yang lebih holistik dan kontekstual dalam memahami dan menangani isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan syariat Islam, politik, dan identitas sosial di Aceh.
