The BaiturrahmanGrand Mosque area in Banda Aceh is one of the most important cultural landscapes in Aceh, combining historical, religious, architectural, and social values. As an ancient mosque with strong ties to the identity of the Acehnese people, preservation of thisarea cannot be done solely on the building aspect, but must encompass all elements of the cultural landscape such as outdoor spaces, vegetation, circulation patterns, and social and religious practices. This study aims to analyze the elements of the cultural landscape that shape the Banda Aceh Grand Mosque area and formulate a comprehensive preservation approach. The research method uses a qualitative approach through field observations, semi-structured interviews, visual documentation, and literature review. The results show that the cultural landscape of the mosque area is composed of tangible elements such as the mosque building, courtyard, shade plants, pilgrim paths, and communal spaces; as well as intangible elements such as worship traditions, symbolic values, socio-religious activities, and historical narratives that strengthen local identity. Preservation of the area requires an integrative strategy, including physical conservation, revitalization of outdoor spaces, strengthening of religious values, and community participation. This study concludes that the cultural landscape approach provides a comprehensive preservation framework and can serve as a model for the preservation of other ancient mosques in Aceh.
