Analisis Penerapan Konsep Arsitektur Berkelanjutan Pada Taman Seuramoe Krueng Aceh

Abstract

Sustainable architecture in public open space has become a critical issue in urban revitalization because parks, waterfronts, and adaptive reuse areas must simultaneously support ecological performance, social inclusion, local economy, and cultural continuity. This study analyzes the application of sustainable architecture principles at Taman Seuramoe Krueng Aceh, a revitalized site of the former Peunayong Fish Market in Banda Aceh. Ardiani’s framework was selected because it integrates environmental, social, economic, cultural, and operational dimensions through nine principles and 44 indicators, making it relevant for evaluating Indonesian urban public spaces. Using a descriptive qualitative case-study method, this research employed field observation, photographic documentation, secondary document review, and binary indicator scoring. The results show that 16 of 44 indicators were fulfilled, especially in energy strategy, water conservation, material use, cultural preservation, adaptive reuse, solar lighting, sensor-based lighting, rainwater use, local materials, and support for local small businesses. The main research gap addressed by this study is the limited indicator-based evaluation of post-revitalization waterfront public spaces that connects physical design, cultural identity, economic function, and operational sustainability. The findings contribute an evaluative model for sustainable public space development in Banda Aceh, while the study is limitedto a single-case study, the absence of quantitative thermal, hydrological, and energy-performance measurements.
