Abstract
Extracurricular activities are activities that students engage in outside of regular class hours, aimed at developing children's potential. Gross motor skills are abilities that require coordination of most parts of a child's body. This study aims to describe the impact of extracurricular activities on the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years, to identify the steps involved in extracurricular activities that support the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years, and to understand the challenges faced in implementing extracurricular activities for gross motor development in children aged 5-6 years at TK Kartika XIV-3 Lhokseumawe. This research uses a qualitative approach and this type of research used descriptive research. The data collection techniques used in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques involve data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that extracurricular activities have a positive impact on the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years. The steps that need to be considered in extracurricular activities include providing adequate facilities and infrastructure, teaching basic movement and stroke skills, ensuring supervision, conducting evaluations, and involving parents in the process. The challenges encountered include children being afraid to try new things and some parents preventing their children from participating in extracurricular activities.
