The institutionalization of zakat management through Baitul Mal in Aceh is anticipated to expedite poverty alleviation efforts in the region. However, the fact remains that the poverty rate in Aceh is relatively higher compared to other regions in western Indonesia. This study investigates the impact of zakat distribution on poverty reduction using panel data from 23 districts and cities in Aceh. The estimation model applied to test the functional relationship between the two variables is panel regression. The research proves that zakat distribution can significantly reduce poverty levels. These findings imply that zakat can be relied upon as a policy instrument to improve the standard of living, particularly in Aceh.
2024-12-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6207 THE MODERATION ROLE OF GOOD AMIL GOVERNANCE ON INTEREST IN PAYING ZAKAT: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY OF INDONESIA2024-12-12T15:50:21+00:00Asgarasgar602022020023@gmail.comHasbiasgar602022020023@gmail.com
The Moderation Role of Good Amil Governance on Interest In Paying Zakat: Empirical Evidence of the Muslim Community of Indonesia. Zakat has become an obligation that must be fulfilled by every Muslim, as a manifestation of religious obedience and fundamental social responsibility. The potential of zakat in Indonesia is very large, but the realization is still low compared to the existing potential. Therefore, effective and efficient management of zakat funds is very essential. This study aims to examine the role of moderation of Good Amil Governance on interest in paying zakat among Muslim communities in Indonesia by adopting the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This research is a type of field research using quantitative methods. Data collection uses a questionnaire conducted online through google forms. The data analysis was carried out using a moderation regression technique using Smart-PLS with a sample of 100 respondents spread across several regions in Indonesia. The results of the study showed that attitude and perception of behavior control had a positive effect on Interest in Paying Zakat, but subjective norms did not have a positive effect on Interest in Paying Zakat. Meanwhile, Good Amil Governance does not moderate the relationship between attitudes, perceptions of behavioral control towards Interest in Paying Zakat. However, Good Amil Governance plays an important role in strengthening the relationship between subjective norms and Interest in Paying Zakat. Where good governance by amil zakat is able to increase public trust and views, thus encouraging them to be more interested in paying zakat. In Aceh, the phenomenon of poor people running ultra-micro-based businesses faces big challenges in accessing business capital financing from formal financial institutions. This group is often considered unbankable because it does not meet the credit worthiness criteria set by the bank, such as having adequate collateral or collateral, as well as regular financial records. As a result, many ultra-micro business actors are forced to take shortcuts by borrowing money from loan sharks, who offer loans with very detrimental interest rates. This practice not only burdens them with mounting debt, but also worsens their economic conditions in the long term. Baitul Mal Aceh, through the instrument of productive zakat utilization, is a solution in efforts to eradicate poverty. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the success of mustahiq businesses with work ethic as an intervening variable. The method used in this research is a type of quantitative research. The population in this study were productive zakat mustahik who received ultra-micro business capital assistance in Baitul Mal Aceh by drawing a sample of 100 respondents using data collection techniques in the form of distributing questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach using SmartPLS version 3 software. The results obtained are (1) Coaching has a significant positive effect on the success of mustahik businesses; (2) Mentoring has a significant positive effect on the success of mustahik businesses; (3) Coaching has a significant positive effect on work ethic; (4) Mentoring has a significant positive effect on work ethic; (5) Work ethic has a significant positive effect on the success of mustahik businesses; (6) Coaching has a significant positive effect on the success of mustahik businesses with work ethic as a mediating variable; (7) Mentoring has a significant positive effect on the success of mustahik businesses with work ethic as a mediating variable. The results of this research can be used as consideration for Baitul Mal Aceh for decision making in empowering the mustahik economy and as a consideration for mustahik to continue to improve their work ethic in entrepreneurship.
2024-12-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6320INCOME ZAKAT KIFAYAH LIMITS IN KEDAH STATE: A STUDY2024-12-18T17:12:19+00:00Mohd Adib Abd Muinmohdadib@uum.edu.myAzizah Che Omarmohdadib@uum.edu.myMohd Sollehudin Shuibmohdadib@uum.edu.myIzatul Akmar Ismailmohdadib@uum.edu.myHazwan Hasnimohdadib@uum.edu.my
This study aims to identify the kifayah limit for income zakat in the State of Kedah, with a focus on the minimum living requirements set to determine eligibility for zakat payment. Income Zakat is one of the important instruments in the Islamic economic system that works to reduce poverty and economic imbalance in the community. However, determining the exact kifayah limit is critical to ensure that zakat can be channeled to those who really need it. This study uses a qualitative approach including secondary data analysis from official reports on the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) website and the Zakat on Touch application as well as interviews with zakat experts and individuals involved in zakat management at LZNK. The results of the study show that there are variations in the determination of kifayah limits based on demographic, economic, and social factors. This study also found that determining kifayah limits more dynamically and contextually can increase the effectiveness of income zakat collection and distribution in this state. The implication of this study is the need for improvements in the guidelines for determining kifayah limits to be more reflective of the current situation and challenges faced by the community in Kedah. This study is expected to contribute to policy makers and LZNK authorities to improve the zakat collection and distribution system as well as strengthen the economic well-being of the community.
2024-12-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6329TOWARDS A NEW ERA OF CASH WAQF (CASH WAQF INNOVATION THROUGH ARABIC LANGUAGE LEARNING APPLICATION PROGRAM) CONTEMPORARY WAQF FOR THE NEWEST PEOPLE2024-12-19T05:21:26+00:00Radlwa Mauhibah Izzydehapa908@gmail.comAliyumi Putri Octavia Nasaomidehapa908@gmail.com
The substance of cash waqf with the final socialist innovation model in the learning application program can realize social welfare, because it builds a relevant mutual fund model through endowment funds from the people which are managed by trustworthy professionalism in overcoming anxiety as an effort to stimulate the economic growth of the people. This research focuses on the distribution of zakat by BAZNAS Probolinggo using a mix method, which is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research types. The qualitative approach used is a case study. This approach is used to explore the distribution pattern used by BAZNAS in producing its zakat funds. The data was analyzed using interpretive analysis with a flow model from Miles and Huberman. The data validity techniques used are source triangulation and technique triangulation. After there are findings about the pattern of zakat distribution, this study is continued with a quantitative approach with a descriptive statistical type. The analysis used is CIBEST (Center of Islamic Business and Economic Studies). So that the results of this study stated, first, in the distribution of productive zakat, BAZNAS Probolinggo uses two patterns, namely the traditional productive distribution pattern and the modern productive distribution, second, the distribution pattern used by BAZNAS Probolinggo has an impact on alleviating mustahik poverty. Based on the CIBEST model approach, the position of mustahik after receiving productive zakat with a modern distribution pattern has changed from quadrants III and IV to quadrants II and I, meaning that mustahik is no longer in a condition of poor property and spirituality. However, in quadrant II, mustahik has no wealth but has high spirituality, while in quadrant I, mustahik already has wealth and spirituality, meaning that the condition is prosperous.
2024-12-17T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6173THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC SOCIAL FUNDS IN REDUCING POVERTY AND CRIME RATES IN INDONESIA2024-12-12T05:47:49+00:00ikhsan hidayatsandayihsan@apps.ipb.ac.id
Several studies indicate that poverty is closely related to crime rates. In Islam, poverty alleviation can be achieved through the utilization of zakat, infaq, sedekah, and other religious social funds (ZIS-DSKL). This study aims to analyze the role of religious social funds (ZIS-DSKL) in reducing poverty, which in turn will help decrease crime rates in Indonesia. Using panel data from 34 provinces for the period 2018-2023, this study develops two static panel regression models with a random effects approach. The first model examines the impact of ZIS-DSKL on the percentage of the poor population (p0), while the second model assesses the impact of ZIS-DSKL on the number of criminal cases. Results from the first model show that ZIS-DSKL, life expectancy, and the open unemployment rate significantly influence poverty. The second model reveals that ZIS-DSKL, per capita income, population size, the percentage of the poor population, and gross enrollment rate in higher education significantly affect the number of criminal cases. These findings suggest that the allocation and effectiveness of ZIS-DSKL can contribute to reducing poverty and crime. Recommendations are provided to improve the management of religious social funds to maximize their impact on social policy.
2024-12-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6203RELEVANCE OF KNOWLEDGE REGARDING INCOME ZAKAT OBLIGATIONS, HOW IS IMPLEMENTATION?2024-12-12T15:05:11+00:00Winny Dian Safitriwinny@gmail.comNilam Sariwinny.diansafitri@ar-raniry.ac.idzunul Almisriwinny.diansafitri@ar-raniry.ac.idCut Amanda Syifawinny@gmail.comMuhammad Irfanwinny@gmail.comDiah Aprillia Wulandariwinny@gmail.com
The results of this study show that the public's knowledge about paying income zakat is good, as well as the community is very interested in paying income zakat. The rapid advancement of digital technologies and their integration into charitable donation mechanisms present substantial opportunities for enhancing transparency and building trust in fund management. The research assesses the innovations brought by digitalization in managing ZISWAF funds and the challenges encountered from technological, social, legal, and ethical perspectives. The central research question addresses how digital platforms can be made more transparent and reliable in the collection and distribution of ZISWAF funds. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a case study design, data was gathered through a literature review and analysed using thematic analysis. The findings are categorized under five main themes: the scope and suitability of digital donation systems, transparency and trust, user-friendly interfaces, target audience and application purpose, and project diversity and impact. The results indicate that digital donation systems offer significant benefits in areas such as transparency, transaction speed, and real-time tracking of fund usage through reporting and traceability. However, they also highlight the need for improvements in security, data protection, and legal regulations. Particularly, while blockchain technology is noted for enhancing transparency, it also poses risks related to data protection and user privacy. The discussion section explores the practical implications of these findings and suggests areas for further research and policy development to optimize the integration of digital systems into ZISWAF management. In conclusion, developing and promoting digital donation systems in alignment with technological, legal, and ethical standards can significantly improve the effective collection and distribution of ZISWAF funds, thereby contributing to social justice and solidarity. However, enhancements in areas such as security, legal frameworks, and user education are necessary for the full realization of these benefits.
2024-12-16T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6330THE IMPACT OF IMPLEMENTING PSAK NO. 109 ON THE ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY OF ZAKAT MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONS IN BAITUL MAL, ACEH PROVINCE2024-12-19T07:17:21+00:00Safrirullah221008017@Student.ar-raniry.ac.idHafas Furqani221008017@Student.ar-raniry.ac.idNilam Sari221008017@Student.ar-raniry.ac.id
This research aims to find out and analyze the implementation of PSAK No. 109 Concerning Zakat, Infaq and Sadaqah on Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ) in Increasing Accountability and Transparency in Baitul Mal Aceh Province. However, there are variousl challenges that hinder the growth of MSMEs, such as limited access to financing. Furthermore, the widespread use of predatory lenders, such as Bank Emok, worsen the financial conditions of the community. Various initiatives have emerged to utilize cash waqf to empower MSMEs, though most remain at the conceptual model stage. This study investigates empirical evidence from a real-world application of cash waqf models to support MSMEs in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with expert interviews and SWOT analysis, this paper examined the case of the MSME Centre Tegalwaru. Findings reveal that the centre has successfully leveraged cash waqf to provide MSMEs with additional financing, human capital development, and business enablement. However, the centre also faced challenges in fundraising, high financing risk, and limited human resources. The proposed Community Venture Waqf Model is expected to open new sources of funding from tourists and corporations, mitigate risk through reserve fund or takaful, and promote collaboration with various stakeholders. Although limited to the Tegalwaru context, this research offers valuable insight for practitioners, regulators, and academicians interested in adapting similar waqf model to foster MSME’s growth and economic development in other regions.
2024-12-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6213 OPTIMIZATION OF ZISWAF FUND MANAGEMENT BY BAZNAS TO IMPROVE THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF WEST BANDUNG2024-12-12T16:59:14+00:00pazrina sajidapazrinasajida08@gmail.comDera Maulani Sypazrinasajida08@gmail.com
This study investigates the programs that have been created by BAZNAS West Bandung Regency to manage Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah, and Waqf (ZISWAF) and how it has impacted on improving the welfare of the people in the West Bandung region as well as exploring the implementation strategies used by BAZNAS. Primary data is data obtained directly through interviews with informants while secondary data is data obtained from books and related articles. The results of this study indicate that the management and utilisation of waqf assets in Gowa Regency are still dominated by the needs of 3 M (Mosque, Mushollah and Madrasah) due to several reasons, namely: 1). Low public knowledge about productive waqf. 2) The government has not socialised productive waqf and 3) Nadzir is not professional. The efforts and strategies made by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Gowa Regency have not been maximised in developing nadzir because there is no work program that leads to training and nadzir schools that still focus on socialising the administration of waqf land, this shows that nadzir in Gowa Regency have not been scientifically trained to become professional nadzir in managing productive waqf assets so that waqf as a sharia financial instrument has not had the maximum impact on the welfare of the people in Gowa Regency.
2024-12-16T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6170THE RISK OF USING CRYPTOCURRENCY (BITCOIN) AS ZAKAH PAYMENT IN INDONESIA BASED ON MUI FATWA2024-12-12T05:04:43+00:00Dina Anisya Rufaedahdinarufaedah@gmail.comMuhammad Lathoif Ghozalidinarufaedah@gmail.com
According to its function, money is not only a medium of exchange but also a value or a count. Cryptocurrency is money that does not have a tangible form that can be touched as currency in general but only blocks of data that are validated because they have been bound by hashes. The use of Bitcoin is not strictly supported by the government because it is an unbound asset and its instability as a tangible asset caused by the high volatility of Bitcoin. This research analyzes the implementation of Saddu Dzari'ah principle in the use of cryptocurrency (bitcoin) as zakat payment, focusing on the analysis of MUI Fatwa No. 13 Year 2011 on the Law of Zakat on Haram Assets. The research method used is qualitative research with data analysis techniques through inductive and descriptive. The data is obtained from the results of documentation and literature data collection. The law of using Bitcoin in the view of scholars is that some allow transactions and some do not. Cholil Nafis from NU and Fatwa Muhammadiyah said that the use of Bitcoin includes transactions that contain gharar and harm. In MUI Fatwa No. 13 of 2011, it is stated that haram assets are not allowed to be zakaah because zakat must be from objects that are purely halal in terms of acquisition and the assets themselves. In the perspective of Sadd Al-Dzari'at, the Indonesian Ulama' have issued a haram fatwa for Zakat on Haraam Assets. This is a reinforcement that Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) brings problems. In fiqh rules, it is explained that rejecting mafsadat (damage) takes precedence over attracting benefits.
2024-12-13T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6202THE ROLE OF BAITUL MAL WA TAMWIL (BMT) IN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF THE PEOPLE 2024-12-12T14:46:33+00:00Muhamad Subhanmuhammadsubhan@uinjambi.ac.idSintia Delviantimuhammadsubhan@uinjambi.ac.id
The people of Indonesia and Malaysia do not wish to be perceived as the world's biggest debtor nation or as a consumerist society. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how BMT, an Islamic financial institution, has contributed to the growth of the contemporary economic community. The findings demonstrated that the Baitul Mal wa Tamwil (BMT) functioned as a microfinance organization that shared profits and created a sharia microbusiness with the goal of enhancing the status and dignity of underprivileged and impoverished individuals. As a sharia bank engaged in the profitable development of the people, BMT must continue to estimate each exertion to ameliorate the products offered. The access indicator is carried out through the existence of a number of existing institutions, including Baitul Mal and LAZ as mosque 'banks', without involving government or private financial institutions. These institutions can be easily reached by the target community for financial inclusion. The indicators of the use of the Jogokariyan Mosque are consumptive-productive, where the financing scheme provided to the target community of financial inclusion is in the form of qard, qardhul hasan, and grant contracts.
2024-12-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Proceedings of Aceh International Seminar on Zakat and Waqfhttps://journal.ar-raniry.ac.id/AISZAWA/article/view/6324THE IMPACT OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY ON MIKORO BUSINESS ACTORS AT BAZNAS REGENCY OF TEN TAKALAR CIBEST MODEL 2024-12-19T04:46:40+00:00Hasrianahasrianahana705@gmail.comFathurrahmanhasrianahana705@gmail.comTrisno Wardy Putrahasrianahana705@gmail.com
This research aims to examine the impact of economic recovery with CIBEST model.
